Lupron Depot-PED® is a brand of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist made by Abbott Laboratories. Lupron Depot-PED® is an intramuscular injection that contains the medicine leuprolide, which inhibits the action of the gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH).

Lupron Depot-PED® is currently FDA approved for treating children with central precocious puberty (CPP).

What form is Lupron Depot-PED® currently available?

Lupron Depot-PED® is currently available as a kit. LUPRON DEPOT PED® is available in 7.5 mg, 11.25 mg, and 15 mg for 1-month and 11.25 mg and 30 mg for 3-month administration strengths. Each pre-filled dual chamber syringe contains sterile leuprolide acetate powder and liquid diluent.

What are some potential side effects of Lupron Depot-PED®?

Lupron Depot-PED® is generally well tolerated. While unlikely, potential side effects include injection site reactions, such as rash, redness or bruising. Some children may experience symptoms of acne, general pain, and girls may experience vaginitis or vaginal discharge. How do you administer Lupron Depot-PED®?

Lupron Depot-PED® is injected intramuscularly and is recommended to be administered under the supervision of a physician. Lupron Depot-PED®must be administered immediately after reconstitution to prevent the suspension from settling.

How do you store Lupron Depot-PED®?

Before reconstitution, Lupron Depot-PED® can be stored at room temperature until the printed expiration date. After reconstitution, Lupron Depot-PED® must be administered immediately.

How long does Lupron Depot-PED® last?

Lupron Depot-PED® is stable and lasts until the indicated expiration date before opening and mixing. After reconstitution, Lupron Depot-PED®must be administered immediately. Lupron Depot-PED® is typically administered once every month (4 weeks) or once every 3 months (12 weeks).

How do you mix Lupron Depot-PED®?

The Lupron Depot-PED® syringe is mixed and administered as a single injection. Do not mix until immediately prior to injection.
